in the coming days you will receive the postal voting documents for the election to the Faculty Council Medicine 2021.
Bündnis Wissenschaft will once again be running with its own election proposal for the most important self-governing body of the faculty.
How does the election work?
The voting documents will be sent to your postal address in the 23rd calendar week (07.-11.06.2021). Please return the completed absentee ballot papers to the Election Office of the University of Hamburg, Mittelweg 177, 20148 Hamburg, by 2 p.m. on 09.07.2021. The election results are expected to be announced from 14.07.2021. We will inform you immediately.
Why vote? – or: What are the tasks of the Faculty Council?
The Faculty Council is the body that determines the fate of the Faculty of Medicine in academic self-administration.
The Faculty Council makes many important decisions. It decides on the Faculty Statutes and participates in appointments. The Faculty Council votes on the budget of the Dean’s Office. Performance-oriented allocation of funds (LOM) and scoring for the publication performance of institutes/clinics are also faculty council topics. In addition, the council decides on the establishment, modification and abolition of individual self-governing units in teaching and research – in other words, it can wind up or reestablish an institute or a clinic.
Consequently, the Faculty Council makes important structural decisions that can affect anyone and everyone. It is therefore very important for the scientists at the UKE to be represented in this body.
